At Play by Play, we’re a small team of industry vets and hoop purists who cherish the golden age of basketball games. We’ve got big dreams and we know we have big shoes to fill, and we don’t take that lightly. We’re chasing that spark, alongside every hoops fan across the world.
Welcome to NBA THE RUN, a fast-paced, online 3v3 street basketball game, played above-the-rim and packed with posterizing moments, ankle-breaking tricks and a unique, signature style. We’re excited for players to take their favorite NBA stars to iconic streetball courts around the world when NBA THE RUN releases next year.
At the heart of NBA THE RUN are Knockout Tournaments which keep every game of pure hoops fresh, fast and unpredictable. Playing Solo or with a Squad, you win, you advance. Lose and you regroup, ready up and go again. Every 3v3 match drops you into a new court with new rules — quick rounds where anything can happen and comebacks are inevitable. Stack wins, earn cred, and chase that top spot, because there’s always one more RUN.
Basketball is a universal language and NBA THE RUN takes these best-of-the-best tournaments around the world. Each multiplayer tournament face-off will span from Venice Beach to The Tenement in the Philippines. You’ll ball out with a dream lineup of some of today’s biggest NBA stars including: Antetokounmpo, Ball, Curry, Dončić, Edwards, Flagg and many more (stay tuned to find who will be joining the roster).
Gameplay in NBA THE RUN is fast, fluid and responsive. Powered by true rollback netcode, your moves on the sticks will sync instantaneously – cross up an aggressive defender, switch to a layup mid-dunk to avoid a block, or throw up a lob out of a spin move for a game winning alley-oop.
But you know what they say: Defense wins championships. In NBA THE RUN, defense is just as fun, and powerful as offense. Thunderous blocks, diving for loose balls, huge steals, and all-out physicality on D to dictate the flow of the game can lead to a W and will get you just as hyped.
And just to make sure the energy keeps flowing, we’ve brought back the legendary Bobbito Garcia aka Kool Bob Love, the unmistakable voice from that incredible era of streetball games we all know and love, to call all the action in NBA THE RUN with his same soul, swagger and sazón.
This game is being built with care and craft, by developers who helped shape some of the most iconic sports and blockbuster video game franchises ever made. We’re small, but mighty – a mix of vets and dreamers who know exactly what made us fall in love with basketball and video games in the first place.
