Wave One – 2000s Legends is LIVE. Our first Season is underway, the leaderboards have been reset, and it’s time to dominate. This is our biggest update yet, packed with community-requested features, new ways to play, and plenty of new heat to hit the court with and play your way. 

Now it’s your turn to get buckets. Drop your nastiest plays, biggest dimes and cold-blooded game winners. Keep running it back, keep showing us what you’ve got, and keep helping shape where NBA THE RUN goes next.

Notable Additions

  • New Players: 2000s Legends added to the Shop:
    • Allen Iverson
    • Vince Carter
    • Tracy McGrady
    • Dirk Nowitzki
    • Kevin Garnett

  • Two Championship Belts added, one each for Knockout Squads and Knockout Solos
    • Earned on a per player basis per mode, can you collect ‘em all?

  • Evolving Trophy System added – the more ‘chips you win, the more your trophy will evolve from gold to galactic (total lifetime trophy count for tourney wins)

  • 2 new modes added: Practice Mode and Custom Match
    • Pick any map & ruleset to go up against AI in Practice or friends in Customs
    • There are no CRED and level progression rewards for these modes

  • New Playable Cameras:
    • Drive Cam – An elevated, end-to-end gameplay camera that follows the action from behind the offense, providing excellent visibility of the basket, player spacing, and passing lanes. Overhead cam goes up with you on offense and remains fixed
    • Drive Flip Cam – It flips 180 degrees when possession changes, ensuring players are always moving toward the top of the screen.

Gameplay Changes

  • Goaltending has been significantly nerfed 
  • Refactored shoves and forward tricks  for characters with a lower Power Rating. Previously they  struggled to successfully shove character at or around their level. On the extreme other side players with a high Power Rating never lost a shove. Shove and Forward Trick are now valid choices for less powerful characters, and no longer unstoppable with higher characters.
  • Style dribble moves are now based on Handles and include unique moves for certain players
  • Oop City Ruleset: 2s and 3s, first to 23 and 4 points for Alley-Oops
  • Driving Layups and Standing Dunks added, replacing standing layup
  • Added ability to Off-the-Heezay already stunned players, repeat Off-the-Heezays on an opponent, and advanced Off-the-Heezay that can now knock your opponent down
  • Added advanced ability to bounce the ball off the ground towards the backboard for stylish plays and momentum-shifting alley-oops
  • Style dribble moves are now based on Handles and include uniques for players with elite handles
  • Tuned blocking from behind to be less effective
  • Updated trick fail value to be slightly more forgiving
  • Additional improved AI behaviors

Visual Changes

  • Color Correction on every court, providing a gritty and high contrast look & feel 
  • New Versus Matchup intro before matches w/ all new animations 
  • Action Cam removed (Game has Default, High, Drive Cam and Drive Cam Flip now)
  • Improved knockdown animations
  • All new intro presentation for Championship games
  • All new animations for the post game victory screen

User Interface Changes

  • New Main Menu Look – Dyckman (Tournament) 

Stats Updates

  • Leaderboards are scheduled to reset on Tuesday Sept 29 at 9am PT
  • New season has started, but all-time stats are still being tracked to profiles

Audio Updates

  • RUN Anthems licensed music tracks added
  • New In the Zone audio / music treatment 
  • Audio setting to set music as Licensed (only), Original (only) or Blend
  • Many new Bob VO lines
  • Audio support for all new game modes / menus
